Heatworks' Tetra Countertop Dishwasher Wins Home Appliance Top Prize at CES 2019

Our Tetra Countertop Dishwasher was just selected as a CES 2019 Best Of Innovation Award Honoree in the Home Appliances product category. This means that not only was it chosen to be an Honoree for outstanding design and engineering (like the MODEL 3 Water Heater by Heatworks was last year), but the judges felt that Tetra is the most impressive technology in its product category. It scored higher than all the rest of the home appliances, which is no small feat considering all the existing big brands (think Samsung, Whirlpool, etc.)

As you can imagine, our team is thrilled with this announcement! This is our second CES award and the second to be given to a product powered by Ohmic Array Technology, which leverages electricity and the natural conductivity of liquids to generate heat in the purest, most precise way.

Tetra is a revolutionary countertop dishwasher. It requires no plumbing connections and can be placed and used anywhere with a standard electrical outlet. Tetra holds two full place settings (including plates, bowls, cups, and flatware), 10 plates, or 12 pint glasses. After a meal, you can simply load your dishes onto the modular rack system, add a gallon of water into the unit, and turn it on. It takes only minutes to go through the entire wash cycle, and since it is transparent, so you can see exactly where it is in the dishwashing cycle.

Tetra is powered by Heatworks' patented Ohmic Array Technology. This allows for precise temperature control — you can finally easily clean baby bottles, wash plastic storage containers without melting, clean fruit, or run a load of wine glasses on a gentler cycle. And, since water is used as the heating element, the hot water is purer than water from any other dishwasher available in the industry today, whose heaters produce limescale and sediment. With our advanced all-electric technology, we can instantly change the allocation of the energy budget from all water heating to all water pumping or anywhere in between to maximize efficiency and performance.

According to Jerry Callahan, the founder and CEO at Heatworks, “The majority of dishwashers available on the market right now are not designed for how we actually live. They are too big, take too long to run, and consume significant amounts of water and energy. We wanted to redefine the dishwasher to truly meet those day-to-day needs, while also conserving up to 80% water and energy. Tetra achieves that.”

He said Heatworks partnered with frog design to design a truly memorable product experience.

Since launching at CES 2018, Tetra has been featured in over 70 publications and has been called “every broke New Yorkers' dream come true”, “a total game-changer for cramped kitchens”, “the coolest new product you'll want to buy in 2018”, and according to a New York Times reporter in a recent article, “As someone who lives in an exceedingly small, dishwasher-less Manhattan apartment, I want this appliance and I want it now.”

Anticipated delivery in Spring/Summer 2019. Pre-order will begin in January 2019.

The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the producer of CES 2019, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976. Tetra will be displayed at the CES Unveiled in Las Vegas on January 6, 2019, as well as in the Heatworks' booth #50322 inside Eureka Park from January 8-11, 2018, in Las Vegas' Sands Hotel.
